Chapter 8 – From Amateur Champions to Professional Tours
This chapter traces the emergence of professional women’s golf and the transition from amateur competition to professional tours. It highlights increasing visibility, commercialisation, and new forms of recognition.
The purpose is to show divergence within the system. While elite pathways became more visible, they did not represent the whole. The broader participation system continued alongside professionalisation, often with less attention.
